Last year, I had my cousin Christian's wedding to go to and I felt self-conscious about my weight. It was pretty embarrassing looking at me through the mirror. With just over a month to prepare, I had to get myself in shape. After all there were a lot of single ladies (you've seen Wedding Crashers, right?) I knew were going to attend the occasion and I wanted to fit into nice clothes, so I was really focused to lose weight really fast.
I started by considering the dietary implications for losing weight really fast. First I had to determine my optimum calorie intake. For me this was 1900 calories per day. I had to lay off snacking! Biscuits and doughnuts were my weaknesses so these were cut out! I knew that I had to eat little but often. This type of eating habit stimulates the metabolism. Foods would have to be low fat and a good balance of protein and carbohydrate. Things like fruit and vegetables, beans, fish, and chicken all became part of my diet. I stopped eating butter, bacon sandwiches, and other greasy foods. I set out a menu over the month of exactly what to eat and stuck with it. (To lose weight really fast it was important not to fast. Fasting can result in binging!)
Next I designed an awesome exercise routine designed to help me lose weight really fast. I was not that fit to start with but I bought myself a pedometer with a calorie counter. Basic physics really - I needed to balance the number of calories going in with the number going out to lose weight. Burning a good 300-400 calories per day through walking would do the job. So using my pedometer and walking sessions, coupled with my new diet, I managed to lose 24 pounds over the month and a half. Not only did I lose weight really fast but I also gained some good habits.
